According to Code, the clearance between the car platform sill and the hoistway enclosure is not limited– if a Car Door Interlock is installed. But how could you install something that has not been invented yet?
Introducing The DoorClamp door interlock. An ingenious, patented, Code-compliant design that “says NO to fascia” – by not having to limit the clearance between the car platform sill and the hoistway enclosure, provided a car door interlock is installed. (See 2.5.1.5.3).

How the Interlock works
Travel Position – Car Door Fully Closed
1: Car door interlock is in its neutral, travel position resting on the lock
2: Car door interlock switch is made, allowing driving means to engage

1: Car door interlock is disengaged from the lock allowing the door to open fully
2: Car door interlock switch is open, disconnecting driving means
3: A flag installed on each hoistway door, allows the car door to open in the unlocking zone
Inside the unlocking zone, the car door fully opens

Outside the unlocking zone, the car door is restricted as required by Code.
